How to fix references in Excel all at once (not typing in $ one by one)?

In one of the videos of the Excel Introduction Course the teacher typed in a formula without fixed references and then instantly fixed them. How did he do that?

Does anyone know what is the trick here?

Hi Milena, Thanks for reaching out! All you need to do is press F4 once or twice - this is the shortcut for fixing cell references. If you press it one time, you'll fix both references, and if you press F4 two times, you'll fix the row reference only. All the best, Ned

Thank you Ned! And just googled that on Mac it is fn+F4. Problem solved :-)
