I cannot save a macro in the "Personal Macro Workbook"

When I record a macro in the "Personal Macro Workbook" and close Excel, I get an error message telling me "you cannot save the personal macro workbook in the startup folder. save it elsewhere now and move it to the startup folder later".

I have no problem when saving a macro in "This Workbook" but I need it to be available for several different Excel files.

Hi David,

To fix this, ensure your Personal Macro Workbook is saved in the correct location.

Open Excel, record a macro in the Personal Macro Workbook, and close Excel.

If prompted with the error, save the workbook to your desktop first. Then, manually move the saved workbook (Personal.xlsb) to the Excel startup folder, usually located at C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART. This ensures the macro is available for all Excel files.

Hope this helps!

Best,

Ned
