Hi, use the filter in what context?

I was thinking that since we need to calculate the total sales only for US, when we use Calculate function, we will filter the calculation fusing only US sales: 

USToltasales = CALCULATE(SUM(fact_InternetSales[SalesAmount]),Filter( dim_SalesTeritory[SalesTerritoryCountry]="United states")
