The background knowledge I need

Hi, I am a current master student in material science with one of my university track related to machine learning. In the future, I want to apply for the job related to data science and material science. I have almost done the 365 Data Scientist track but I still have some question to become a data scientist. I know the probability and statics are essential for data scientist but how about algorithm and data structure which is very important for general SDE. Because my bachelor degree is about chemical engineering, I haven't study for it. Should I study algorithm and data structure for myself?

When I finished your course about python and MySQL bootcamp, I think I have some basic ability of coding. However, I don't think I am good at it. Is there any recommendation way to increase my coding ability?

Can I practice that through LeetCode directly?

Moreover, If I practice through LeetCode, Is there any category I should focus on to become a data scientist?
