Meet Your Instructor

I hold a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Galway, Ireland, where I developed state-of-the-art neurosymbolic and multimodal AI techniques for scene understanding and visual reasoning. My academic journey began with a BSc in Computer Systems Engineering, followed by an MSc in Signal and Image Processing, culminating in a distinguished research career marked by several open-source projects, book chapters, nearly 50 research articles, and over 2,000 citations. Currently, I am a Senior Research Scientist in AI and Data Analytics at Fujitsu Research, UK, where I develop behavioural decision-making models using machine learning and large language models for social digital twins to optimise policy decisions for businesses and organisations. Additionally, I serve as an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, with a focus on the application of AI in healthcare. I have held academic positions as a lecturer and researcher at several universities. My teaching portfolio encompasses a diverse range of technical subjects, including AI, machine learning, data science, and software engineering, with a strong emphasis on engaging course design and mentorship. My industry experience includes roles as a Data Science Consultant and R&D Engineer, where I applied machine learning and data science to tackle real-world problems, from customer retention optimisation to driver safety systems. I have led cross-functional teams and managed research projects. I am actively involved in the research community as a peer reviewer for top-tier journals and conferences, a member of program committees, and a grant panellist. My career reflects a commitment to advancing and teaching AI and data technologies and delivering impactful solutions to complex business challenges.
