Course Exam Q27

Hi,

In Q27 of the course exam, we need to find the entropy of each feature followed by information gain for each feature. For this, we need to find the "yes" and "no" counts for each feature and its outciome. For the feature "Balance", I had to convert the outcomes <60K and >60K to "<60K" and ">60K" respectively (i.e. with quotation marks included). Otherwise the countifs formula for the "yes" and "no" counts for the "Balance" feature outcomes was not working. The countifs worked fine without any conversions for the "Residence" feature. Can you please elaborate why this happened and is there any way other than converting?
