I am a newbie and reached section 12. I want to know why am I learning about probability distribution? Why it is required for data science?

Understanding a variable's probability distribution allows you to model its possible realizations and simulate how it'll develop in the future.
This is a fundamental part of your work if you want to make predictions. The variable can be a company's revenue, the demand for one of the company's products, the amount of units produced by the firm's factory, etc.
