Individual buyer vs family
In the example you said that men buy more property than women (meaning they signed the contract), but we don't know their marital status and if it is maybe a family decision.
Would the same argument not be applicable for the age? Maybe most purchases are family decisions, maybe it's even mostly the wives who make the decision but the men who sign. Now, if the men are typically older than the women, sometimes much older, we don't really know what the ages are. Moreover, smaller apartments are more likely bought by singles, whereas larger apartments are more likely for a family. So, for smaller apartments the listed age might be more "true", but for larger apartments it might not be?
