Understanding the concept of "continous" data

Dear all, i really do not grasp the concepts of continous data, concerning the distances, the weight and height.   Because the distance from a point A to B , is finite and stable (unless you move the point).   Could you explain deeper this concept ?

Hello, Svetoslav!   Let's take an example to help you identify discrete and continuous variables.   The number of children in a family is a discrete variable. The possible values are whole numbers and non-negative (less than 30) such as 0, 1, 8, 10, etc. The value 1.5 is not possible as there cannot be 0.5 child. On the other hand, weight is a continuous variable and can take any value within whole numbers such as 20.25 kg or 100.254 kg. Any value between point A and B is meaningful. However, the measurements are limited only by the device we use.   Hope this helps. Best,
