Hi Garrett,
Hypothesis testing is a statistical method of investigating a statement about a parameter (numerical description of a population which is unknown) by using the available sample data.
Basically we have to know the null and alternative hypotheses, sample data and level of significance. We will make a decision to reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis based on the sample data at a certain level of significance.
