In the first lesson of the probability course
I had this question: Which of these is our preferred representation of the probability of winning a game of rock-paper scissors on the first go?
and the answer was 0.3(3)
But I didn’t understand how
Think of it this way:
What’s the probability of the opponent choosing a losing hand (rock, paper or scissors)?
Because there are only three possible outcomes with the same probability, they each are 1/3 = 0.33 probable to occur. The chance of you winning is the same as the probability of the opponent losing.
