Why is it necessary to create measures in Power BI?
In task 4, the “total sales amount” measure is equivalent to directly displaying the “sum sales amount” field within the fact-internetsales card. Could you explain to me the difference or the advantages of creating measures instead of directly using the fields of the tables.
Measures are at the core of Power BI and DAX. If we need to SUM values, COUNT records or return an AVG, you are correct, they can be achieved without a measure. But what if we want to create a Measure that returns the amount of sales in Canadian dollars for products in green color for example? Measures can also be easily reused, they improve dashboard performance and allow you to do things that are out of the box.
