windows web server machine too slow

Hello, I think some instructions on setting up the ec2 instances were leftist, at least at my end. When I finally set up the vm, it is running too slow and there is so much configuration need it in order for it to run smoothly.  Are there more detailed instructions on how to set up ec2 instances, connecting to windows server and downloading the power BI, and even accessing the course through the VM? My main issue right now is that the machine is simply  running too slow and requires a lot of research on stack overflow and other sites just to set this part of the course up in order to follow along with the video lectures.

Best regards,

Okuich

Hi Okuich,

Is your VM running now? Are you able to install Power BI on it? The VM could be slow if it is set up in a data center that is not close to where you are based or because of the free tier (allows only 2GB of RAM, which should be ok to run Power BI).

I also experience a very slow VM on AWS.
I have not been able to close the flash screen showing the collaboration link even after 10 min.

I will try to close down the machine and try a faster CPU.

Yep, you can change the instance type to a faster instance. like t2.Small or t2.Medium
I change to t2.small and it helped a little.
I will see how it goes through this course.
The steps to change instance type:
1. select instance and close the instance
2. Select instance and click Actions dropdown
3. Select Instance settings and click Change instance Type

Here, you can select the new instance.
Once you have done this, the Instance public IP will change.
so you will have to copy the public IP and paste it into the Remote Desktop Server name.
