Hi Ugochi! Thanks for reaching out! We are sorry for any inconvenience. Solving this error might require the exchange of a few messages between us, but please bear with us. You should be able to set it up eventually. To solve the situation, please provide the following information (and, wherever possible, support your arguments with screenshot(s)). Thank you. What operating system are you using exactly - Windows 7, 8 or 10? Have you installed Visual C++ as advised? If yes, please make sure you leave only one version of it on your computer. Then, have you installed MySQL on your PC previously? Did you have any traces of MySQL when trying to install it now? Thank you very much once again. Looking forward to your answer.
Best,
Martin

My operating system is windows 8. I installed visual studio sometime ago, so I have visual c++ from 2013-2019. I was searching through my PC I saw MySQL server 2008-2013. But that didn’t come up when I was installing this present one.  Thank you.

Hi Ugochi! Great! Therefore, if you've removed this older version of MySQL Server, and then have retried with the newer installed, you should be good to go, right? Please note that to remove MySQL Server (or any of its components, or the entire MySQL) from your computer, you need to have removed them from any of the following four places:
  1. Control Panel
  2. Firewall (if applicable)
  3. RegEdit (Windows registry)
  4. Your drive, where you have installed the program.
Only after checking out with these 4 steps and restarting your Windows can you consider MySQL (or any of its components) successfully removed.  Hope this helps but please feel free to get back to us should you need further assistance. Thank you. Best,
Martin
