Application of mechanical engineering in data science

I am a mechanical engineer and I am very passionate with data science and I want to use this knowledge in my career, So  I would like to ask about the possible applications to use data science in mechanical engineering ( I am working in contracting field).
I will be appreciate if you tell me some case study. (Like what you mention in the course JOHN DEERE)
