Exercise: Why "Number of visitors to competitor websites" is not a KRI?

Can you explain please, why the "Number of visitors to competitor websites" is KPI, not a KRI? From my perspective, the competitor's performance is an external factor, which could be a risk for our company. And because it's external, we cannot directly manage it, so I can't understand why is it a KPI in that case.
