Resolved: Other Probability Distributions
Hello. I understand that other probability distributions are not included in this course (i.e., Geometric, Negative binomial, Beta, Gamma, etc.). Is it possible that these PDFs do not appear so often in data science, which is why you excluded it?
Dear Carl,
Thank you for your question!
It would have indeed been great to include other types of probability distributions in this course. However, it would've become way too long :) What we have done here is to lay the foundations of probability theory as well as introduce the most frequently used distributions in the field of data science. Having mastered that, students would be ready to dive deeper and conduct independent research on the more difficult sections of probability and statistics.
Kind regards,

I see. Thank you, Hristina. I think I would have loved to see those. Could you recommend some titles/links of some books/reference materials for Probability and Statistics?
