Using RELATEDTABLE function to get the sum from fact table:
In the very same sample tables, is it possible to calculate the sum of total sales of each customer from fact table using RELATEDTABLE function into Dim customer table?

You can achieve this effect, but it would not be advisable since you can create a measure to figure this out.
