Issues with the creating tables with the tesla data
I noticed that the format in which the period data appear in excel is different from the way it does after uploading on the tableau. For example, on the excel sheet, it shows 201601, but on the tableau, it shows 201.601
I am sure this is affecting my result because upon creating calculated fields, I follow the instructions as shown in the video but the dialogue box keeps shown that the calculation is invalid. Under the year, I type LEFT([Period], 4) but I keep getting errors.
I also noticed that the data used in the video is different from the data given for download.
Please help out.

To resolve the issue, before you create the calculated field "Year" , please change the data type of "Period" to string, as Tableau recognizes it as a number.
When you do this you should be able to proceed with the calculation and get the results from the example.
