Resolved: UX regarding course resources
Dear Team,
This is with reference to the resources for all the courses on your platform.
Is there a possibility of flattening the provided resource structure? While I understand that, from the developer perspective, it might simplify deployment across several sites, from the user experience perspective, it involves having to wade through several nested folders and zip files to reach what is essentially 1-4 files, extract each to a single folder, and finding out that the same dataset has been repeated upto 6 times in some instances, leading then to decisions about whether to overwrite or if these are progressions of the same dataset (e.g. in tutorials involving data cleaning).
For a single course, this can involve anything between 30-60 minutes of organisation, sometimes more. This adds to user frustration and detracts significantly from the time spent learning and from the otherwise excellent content and teaching on your platform.
A suggestion would be to place everything in a separate folder for each course module, numbering the notebooks to correspond to the videos and having a single copy of the dataset files used throughout the whole module.
I look forward to your views. Thank you again for the high quality courses and explanations on your site.
Sincerely,
Rajdeep
Hey Rajdeep,
Thanks so much for your feedback! We'll look into this! I forwarded your post to the instructor of the course.
Best,
Ned
Thank you, Ned. Much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Rajdeep
Hi Rajdeep and Ned!
I hope you don't mind if I join the conversation.
We updated the organisation of the course resources. Currently, there are no *.zip files to download (apart from the "All resources" file you can download at the beginning of the course).
All other downloadable resources for this course are available in the relevant format (*.ipynb, *.pdf, or *.xlsx).
Thank you once again for pointing this out, Rajdeep!
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Martin
Hi Martin,
Many thanks for your response. My preference generally is to download the "All Resources" file at the start to have these in one go.
Thank you for updating the resource organisation. Looking forward to completing more of your amazing courses!
Sincerely,
Rajdeep
Hi Rajdeep!
Thanks for the positive words and getting back to us.
Looking forward to assisting you along the way, too!
Good luck!
Kind regards,
Martin
