Resolved: Spider crashes when running input() command

I've installed the Anaconda Navigator on my Macbook Pro and with it came Spyder 5.1.5. Based on my research, this version has a bug that produces an error when running any input() commands. Spyder has fixed this issue in the version 5.3.5 but that version is not yet available in Anaconda. Can you please help me resolve this problem?

Dear Anita,

Thank you for your question!

Unfortunately, that is true - there seems to be a bug that the Anaconda developers are yet to fix. One workaround is to downgrade Anaconda - I am using Anaconda 2.1.1 and Spyder 5.0.5 which work without any errors. Another, probably more straightforward solution is to use a different IDE - for example Visual Studio, which Giles introduces in Section 19, PyCharm, introduced in Section 22, or use Jupyter Notebook, introduced in Section 12.

Let me know if you encounter other issues!

Kind regards,
