Hi, 365 Data Science blog readers. Our friends at the Data Science Society have a new competition coming up in April. It's called Global Data Science Hackaton- and we are excited to share some interesting details about it with you. So, check out the article below if you'd like to participate or you just want to find out more.

After five successful editions of the worldwide online Data Science Hackathon, organized by Data Science Society, it’s time to bring the global data science community again. In April participants from more than 30 countries will be challenged to explore real-world challenges and come up with artificial intelligence models during the 48-hours competition.

Datathon 2019

Save the dates 12-14 April for a global data science experience at the Datathon. People from all over the world will have the chance to team up virtually or to gather physically in several locations with the end goal of developing their machine learning algorithms. Through a specially developed platform, the participants will be able to share their preferences for a case and start preparing for the challenge  - chatting with teammates, the industry experts and creating a masterpiece in Python, R or else.

The Data Science Cases

All passionate data scientists will have the opportunity to explore real cases in Computer Vision and Predictive analytics. How about applying skills for object detection for images using a drone, hovering through a store while capturing various relevant information within seconds? The IT Hub of Kaufland will care of the flying operations so that the participants can focus on the computer vision.

Another interesting case is finding out what is affecting air pollution. It will be possible at the datathon with the data set prepared by the data-driven company Telelink and the Sofia Municipality whose teams are working towards the collection of all sources of data that might have an impact on the quality of the air.

The Data Science Challenge

The Challenge is entirely focused on the open source culture of creating code and algorithms. The developed models will be available even after the datathon for others to learn and grow in the domain. The main goal of the datathon is to support the open innovation for making sense of the data all around. This is possible by bringing together business, institutions, communities, and individuals for doing good through the data and the shared knowledge and skills in the domain. The Challenge is designed to meet this goal by presenting interesting cases and bringing the best out of the Society for solving social causes and gathering experience through real cases.

Data Science Society

Data Science Society is a volunteer organization open for all people passionate about cracking patterns and getting insights from data. The society has been building a global network of individuals, mentors, organizations, partners and data-driven companies with the support of its sponsors from Telelink and WorldQuant.

Get ready for the international Datathon - Book your physical or virtual place before April 8th.
