Resolved: Can not connect to MySQL with the given password after re-installation

I had a previous version of MySQL installed. I uninstall everything and re-install latest version 8.

During insttalltion process, instead of asking me for a new password/new root account, it asks to give the current root password.  Of course, I just wipe the database and I seem to be in loophole andI can't get out of it? Any ideas on how to resolve this problem?

Hi Francois!

Thanks for reaching out.

Resetting a password can be a tricky process. However, removing Workbench completely and installing it again usually works great (although it does takes a few minutes, obviously).
Have you tried completely removing the software (from your drive, Firewall, the relevant ProgramData files, the registry), and then reinstalling it?
Please do so, reboot your system and try starting the software.

Hope this helps but please feel free to get back to us should you need further assistance. Thank you.
Best,
Martin
