Can someone explain what this "hack" in Tableau is?

Histogram - Tableau - How to Create a Histogram
We're told it is somewhat of hack, but given no details on what numbers were used to get 54 in the "Size of Bins:" box. The numbers I've played with come close but are just below 54, so I'm wondering why/how 54. I'd like to be able to reproduce the math of it for future histograms in Tableau.
