JOINS and non-adjacent tables
HI
In the course it was mentioned that the join work only on non-adjacent tables.

but in this example you took two adjacent tables which are : employees and dept_name ??

later in the course we used also the duplicate table dept_manager_dup and departements_dup which are adjacent !!

I’m confused, did I miss something?
thanks,

Hi Haithem:
What we have here is an example of the semi-modal auxiliary verb usage of the word "need."
Essentially, the phrase "need not be" here means "do not have to be." In other words, tables can be either adjacent or non-adjacent.
If it had been written "need TO not be" then that would mean the tables couldn't be adjacent. But with the existing phrasing, it's simply saying that adjacency is not an issue either way.
Hi Haithem!
Thanks for reaching out.
As Daniel explained, tables can be either adjacent or non-adjacent. Therefore, adjacency is not a requirement—they can be either.
Hope this helps.
