How is data science a subset of data analytics and what is the difference between both of these terms?

Since, Data Science focuses on getting information from data, it becomes a subset of data analytics. A lot of the processes in Data Analytics/Analysis do not require extracting information like pre-processing.
However, these terms are rather open to interpretation. I am not sure, though.

You are rather correct - many people attach different meanings to these terms. Nevertheless, we've done our best to provide the definitions that tend to be valid across multiple networks and that combined are supposed to provide a solid and complete general picture of the data science world's terms and buzzwords of today.
