There are many skills that can help you become a data scientist and there are some that are really needed regardless of your role in the world of data science. Whether you are the ML expert that will always look for better models, the programmer that will apply the work of the entire team by using their computer science and coding skills, or the statistician that will always challenge the conclusion made by the team, you need to be open to work in a team and have a good a idea of the big picture.
One needs to know which piece of the puzzle they are responsible for, so that the whole team can complete their project and move to the next one. That's why apart from strong analytical skills, good social and communication skills are required.
