Traditional data science and non-traditional data science refer to the approaches/tools used to make analysis (about past data) or analytics (which includes predictive analytics). This means that if we have past data on user experience, depending on the data itself we could use traditional data science tools (such as statistical methods or approaches) to analyse the past data, or newer, e.g. machine learning approach to predict future user behaviour.
Therefore, using traditional data science tools are useful for (and thus, an example for) working on user experience data.
